NEW WEBINAR!

Beyond the Heel: Finding the Root Cause of Plantar Fasciitis

Stop chasing the “itis” and start treating the cause.

Plantar fasciitis is one of the most common—and most frustrating—diagnoses in the outpatient clinic. We’ve been taught to stretch the calves and ice the heel, yet many patients continue to struggle with recurrent pain. This 3-hour webinar cuts through the academic “fluff” to give you a systematic, 3-plane approach to the foot and ankle. Using the GLS “Finding the Dysfunction” philosophy, you will learn to identify whether the plantar fascia is a local problem or a victim of proximal drivers like hip weakness or talar hypomobility. You’ll leave with a clear, step-by-step manual therapy and loading progression you can use to get results on Monday morning.

Webinar Schedule

Beyond the Heel: Finding the Root Cause of Plantar Fasciitis Webinar Schedule Coming Soon…

At the completion of this seminar, the participant will be able to:

  • Confidently palpate and correctly differentiate each of the muscles covered in class in the upper extremity, trunk and lower extremity
  • Independently demonstrate how 10 muscle dysfunctions relate to common symptom patterns found within the body
  • Correctly and independently state and locate the origin and insertion of each of the muscles covered in the class
  • Describe at least 5 functional synergist patterns
  • Independently state at least 3 possible drivers of a dysfunction based on clinical presentations

At the completion of this webinar, registrants will be able to:

  • Clearly explain the “Victim vs. Criminal” concept as it relates to plantar fasciitis, identifying 3 proximal dysfunctions (at the hip or ankle) that can cause the plantar fascia to become overworked and symptomatic.
  • Correctly describe the 3-plane biomechanical influence of the talocrural and subtalar joints on the medial longitudinal arch, specifically explaining how a loss of posterior talar glide leads to compensatory midfoot collapse.
  • Clearly outline the step-by-step differential diagnosis process to distinguish between true mechanical plantar fasciitis, posterior tibial nerve entrapment, and systemic inflammatory conditions.
  • Correctly demonstrate the clinical reasoning for utilizing a Grade III/IV Talocrural Posterior Glide and a Subtalar Distraction to “clear the path” for pain-free weight bearing.
  • Clearly describe the myofascial continuity of the “Superficial Back Line” and justify why manual release or stretching of the hamstrings is a prerequisite for long-term resolution of heel pain.
  • Correctly apply the “Monday Morning” loading progression, specifically the “High-Load Training” (Heel Raise with Big Toe Extension), to transition a patient from the “Protection Phase” to “Functional Resilience.”
