NEW WEBINAR!

The "Double Crush" Re-Evaluated: Finding Proximal Drivers of Distal Arm Pain

Are your “Tennis Elbow” and “Carpal Tunnel” patients plateauing? When distal symptoms persist despite localized treatment, the answer is rarely at the site of pain. The “Double Crush” syndrome suggests that a proximal neural compromise—even if subclinical—sensitizes the peripheral nerve, making it vulnerable to compression at distal “tunnels.”

This webinar moves beyond repetitive nerve glides and wrist splinting. Utilizing the Great Lakes Seminars “Finding the Dysfunction” approach, we will explore the neural highway from the cervical roots through the three tunnels of the thoracic outlet to the terminal branches of the hand. You will learn to differentiate between true peripheral entrapment and proximal neural tension, utilizing manual techniques for the first rib, scalenes, and neural containers to provide lasting relief for chronic upper extremity pain.

Webinar Schedule

The “Double-Crush” Re-Evaluated: Finding Proximal Drivers of Distal Arm Pain Webinar Schedule Coming Soon…

At the completion of this seminar, the participant will be able to:

  • Confidently palpate and correctly differentiate each of the muscles covered in class in the upper extremity, trunk and lower extremity
  • Independently demonstrate how 10 muscle dysfunctions relate to common symptom patterns found within the body
  • Correctly and independently state and locate the origin and insertion of each of the muscles covered in the class
  • Describe at least 5 functional synergist patterns
  • Independently state at least 3 possible drivers of a dysfunction based on clinical presentations
At the completion of this webinar, registrants will be able to:
  1. Clearly state 3 physiological mechanisms of Double Crush Syndrome that explain how a proximal subclinical compression sensitizes a nerve to distal injury.
  2. Correctly describe 3 ways to utilize the “structural differentiator” during neural tension testing to determine if the clinical driver is proximal (Neck/TOS) or peripheral (Wrist/Elbow).
  3. Clearly state 3 mechanical “tunnels” of the Thoracic Outlet and describe how a restriction in these specific areas contributes to distal upper extremity paresthesia.
  4. Correctly describe 3 clinical “If/Then” scenarios for manual therapy interventions at the cervical spine and first rib used to restore neural mobility.
  5. Clearly describe 2 primary differences between Neural Sliders and Neural Tensioners and correctly identify when to use each based on the patient’s level of tissue irritability.
  6. Clearly state 3 components of the Upper Quadrant Scan used to systematically rule out proximal drivers in patients presenting with carpal tunnel or tennis elbow symptoms.
