Host a Public Course with GLS

Great Lakes Seminars is committed to bringing an exceptional course to your facility, without the hassle of a complicated hosting process! Our public courses are open to clinicians across the country, providing your facility with great publicity as well as an opportunity for your staff to gain confidence with treatment techniques and help their patients get better.

Scheduling Process

We’re always considering public courses in new areas or adding hosts to cities we regularly visit. While we can’t guarantee a public course hosting opportunity with each request, we’ll be sure to review and respond to all submissions.

We create our public course schedule during the spring of the year prior. We set each course, date, and location on our end first, then look for hosts in each area. However, we still welcome requests for courses once the schedule is already set. Here are a few factors that help determine which courses are brought to an area:

  • Geographic location and population
  • Course rotation (we typically don’t hold the same course in the same area within 3 years of each other)
  • State license renewal deadline
  • Instructor availability

Public Course Highlights

  • Every host facility receives 3 employee free spots (up to a $1,500 value).
  • All other facility employees beyond the 3 free spots are eligible for our Course Host Employee Discount, which can be applied directly at checkout.
  • Breakfast and snack food purchased for the course will be fully reimbursed by GLS within the allotted food budget.
  • We’ll take care of the registration process, shipping course supplies, coordinating instructor travel, and teaching the best course possible!

A public course with GLS is a continuing education course open to clinicians from across the country. Hosting a public course allows your facility to gain visibility, provide valuable learning opportunities for your staff, and help clinicians improve patient outcomes.

Public courses are open to all licensed clinicians, including physical therapists, physical therapist assistants, athletic trainers, and occupational therapists. Your facility staff can attend, and additional clinicians from the region may register as well.

You can submit a hosting request at any time by filling out our Public Course Interest Form. While we can’t guarantee every request will result in a course, GLS reviews all submissions and considers factors such as location, population, course rotation, state license renewal deadlines, and instructor availability.

The major differences between private and public courses are pricing and the flexibility/ability to request a course. For private courses, the cost base price is $8,000 for a 2-day course and $4,850 for a 1-day course (exact pricing above). You then get to choose the course and time frame, depending only on instructor availability. Public courses come at virtually no cost to the facility. However, we set the public course schedule entirely on our end. We sometimes are able to accept requests for public courses, but must consider things like our currently set schedule, your location, renewal deadlines, etc. Public course hosts are also subject to stricter facility size/equipment requirements.

GLS finalizes the public course schedule during the spring of the year prior. We set course locations, dates, and instructors first, then look for facilities to host in each area. Late requests are still welcome and may be accommodated when possible.

Yes! Every host facility receives 3 free employee spots (up to a $1,500 value). Additional staff are eligible for our Course Host Employee Discount. GLS also reimburses breakfast and snack food within the allotted food budget and handles all course logistics.

Hosting a public course comes with minimal responsibilities. GLS manages registration, instructor travel, shipping course supplies, and teaching the course. Host facilities are mainly responsible for providing a suitable space, following food guidelines, and welcoming attendees.

GLS considers geographic location and population, course rotation (typically avoiding the same course in an area within 3 years), state license renewal deadlines, and instructor availability when selecting locations for public courses.

Breakfast and snack food purchased for the course will be fully reimbursed by GLS within the allotted food budget. Detailed food guidelines are provided in the Public Course Hosting Details PDF.

Hosting a public course comes at virtually no cost to the host facility! We simply ask that you provide the necessary space and equipment for the course. Host facilities are required to purchase snack food for the course, but this will be reimbursed fully by GLS after the course is held.
