Greg Kopp

Greg graduated with his MPT from Oakland University in 1995. He has guest lectured at Oakland University on ACL/PCL surgeries and rehab, and served as a teaching assistant at Oakland for examination procedures and therapeutic exercise. Greg is currently appointed as a clinical instructor for Oakland University. His treatment approach is eclectic, utilizing Kaltenborn and Paris manual techniques, and muscle energy techniques learned at Great Lakes Seminars. He has used this approach since 1995 working in outpatient orthopedic settings with a very diverse patient population, including sports medicine. Greg’s treatment philosophy is to treat the driver of the patient’s condition/pathology, and to teach the patient to manage their own condition. He also has an extensive background in weight training and exercise.

Jason Hepworth

Jason holds a bachelor’s degree in Health and Fitness in Preventative and Rehabilitative Programs from Central Michigan University. He also holds a doctorate in physical therapy from Grand Valley State University and is a Certified Integrated Manual Therapist (CIMT) through Great Lakes Seminars. Jason’s approach to therapy encompasses the use of joint and soft tissue mobilization, functional therapeutic exercise and patient education to return his patients to their highest functional level. Jason is always looking for opportunities to learn new things and improve himself as a clinician. Jason, his wife, and two children live in Southeast Michigan.

Jeff Garbacz

Jeff began his education as a physical therapist at Albion College where he received a B.A. in Sports Medicine with an emphasis on Biomechanics. He went onto the University of Michigan to receive his Doctorate of Physical Therapy. Jeff has extensive clinical experience working with the orthopedic population. He utilizes manual therapy in combination with a functionally based exercise to allow his patients to return to their prior functional level. Jeff's philosophy in treating patients involves finding the origin of the problem versus treating the symptoms, allowing problems to go away and stay away. Jeff has trained the primary instructors for the Knee and Shoulder courses and is the primary instructor for the Extremity Mobilization course for Great Lakes Seminars.  Jeff is the Director of Operations for Advanced Physical Therapy in Southfield, MI.

Jessica Wyen

Jessica holds a Doctorate degree in Physical Therapy from the University of Dayton. She received her Bachelor’s degree in Exercise Science with a focus on Athletic Training from the University of Toledo where she was a student athletic trainer. As a Certified Integrated Manual Therapist and Athletic Trainer, Jessica is credentialed through Great Lakes Seminars to assess mechanical dysfunction of the pelvic floor and pelvis.  She uses a wide variety of manual therapy techniques, functional exercise, and patient education, to provide a high degree of quality care and compassion. Through her practice, she has treated patients with a wide variety of orthopedic and pelvic health diagnosis.  Jessica created our Introduction to Diagnosis and Treatment of Pelvic Floor Dysfunction course after working with Patrick Hoban for several years.  She also spent multiple years growing her knowledge base through continuing education courses related to the pelvic health population. Jessica is a Physical Therapist, Clinic Director, and Pelvic Health Program Director at Probility Physical Therapy and has committed her career to making a difference in staff and patient lives.

Jim Herman

Jim received his Masters degrees in Kinesiology and Physical Therapy from the University of Nevada, Las Vegas in 1997 and 2000 respectively. As a graduate assistant at UNLV, he instructed anatomy and physiology lab sections as well as courses in fitness walking and aquatics. Since graduating, Jim spent two years teaching spinal orthopaedics and pathological conditions as an adjunct instructor in the Physical Therapy Assistant program at Henry Ford Community College. Clinically, Jim has worked primarily in outpatient orthopaedics, including five years with Patrick Hoban at Probility Physical Therapy. Recently, Jim relocated to South Carolina and is supervisor of Blythewood Physical Therapy. He joined Great Lakes Seminars in 2003 to assist with instruction of the Lumbar Complex, Sacroiliac, and Cervical Thoracic courses and has been a primary instructor for the past five years.

Katherine Tan

Katherine graduated with a Master of Science in physical therapy from the University of Alabama at Birmingham in 1999. She practices physical therapy in the areas of orthopedics and manual therapy and is certified as an Orthopedic Clinical Specialist (OCS) through the American Physical Therapy Association. In 2008, she became a Certified Cervical and Temporomandibular Therapist (CCTT). By earning this advanced specialty certification, Katherine has been recognized by the American Academy of Orofacial Pain for her dedication to the treatment of neck, jaw, and head pain. She currently works for Fishbein Physical Therapy in New York City and is enrolled in a residency program in Functional Manual Therapy.

Kelly Poppaw

Kelly holds a Doctorate degree in Physical Therapy from Grand Valley State University.  Kelly received her Bachelor’s degree from Eastern Michigan University where she was a NCAA Division One athlete and Captain of the Women’s Soccer Team.  As a Certified Integrated Manual Therapist, Kelly is credentialed through Great Lakes Seminars to assess mechanical dysfunction from a holistic perspective, and she is very comprehensive in her treatment approach.  She uses a wide variety of manual therapy techniques, functional exercise, and patient education to provide people with an exceptionally high quality of care.  She treats orthopedically across the entire age spectrum from birth to adult to geriatrics.  Kelly created the GLS Finding Dysfunction course with a passion to teach clinicians how to think systematically; find the root of the patient’s problem on day-one, and eliminate the potential for misdiagnosis.  Kelly is a Physical Therapist and Clinic Director at Probility Physical Therapy, a Trained Steward of the leadership methodology Intentional Energetic Presence (IEP) and uses her experience in these areas to create and sustain thriving businesses and cultures.

Martin Sytsema

Martin completed his Masters in PT from Central Michigan University. Immediately following, he completed a two year residency in orthopedic manual therapy and was awarded a fellowship in the American Academy of Orthopedic Manual Physical Therapists in 2001. He emphasizes treatment of the whole person, looking at a variety of structures and systems that may contribute to the patient’s complaints and the abnormal biomechanics that are seen. Treatments include muscle energy, myofascial release, and a variety of other manual therapy techniques and exercises based on Applied Functional Science. Marty was named 2012 Outstanding Alumni for the Central Michigan University PT program, and he was elected by his state peers to be the chairperson of the MPTA Reimbursement and Professional Standards committees starting in 2013. Martin is an owner of i'move which has multiple clinics in West Michigan.

Mike received his Masters in Physical Therapy from Oakland University in Rochester, Michigan in 1997. He has also received his CIMT through Great Lakes Seminars and his CSCS through the National Strength and Conditioning Association. Mike is currently the director of an outpatient orthopedic clinic treating a variety of orthopedic dysfunctions with specialization in post-surgical orthopedic rehabilitation. Mike employs a diverse treatment approach utilizing a combination of joint mobilization techniques, muscle energy and myofascial release. He joined the Great Lakes Seminars team in 2006 after taking a number of the GLS courses and experiencing the effectiveness of these techniques with his patients. He continues to expand his knowledge in manual therapy through teaching and continuing education courses.

Scott Braje

Scott graduated from Colorado State University in 1997 with a B.S. in Exercise and Sport Science, a Minor in Anatomy and Neurobiology, a concentration in Wellness Program Management, and an emphasis in Cardiac Rehabilitation. He then moved out to San Francisco and obtained his CSCS while interning under the (former) president of the National Strength and Conditioning Association while engaging in high level athletic performance training. He obtained his Masters in Physical Therapy from Andrews University in Dayton, OH in 2000 and has worked in outpatient orthopedic physical therapy clinics ever since. He began working with Great Lakes in 2004, and, as consistent with Great Lakes philosophy, he uses a “test, treat, re-test” focus on each treatment to determine the proper course of action in achieving maximal results with each patient. Scott is presently the Clinic Director of the Physical Therapy Department at a multi-disciplinary Pain and Wellness Center in the North Shore of Boston.

Stacy received her doctorate of physical therapy degree from Grand Valley State University.  Participating in lifelong learning, Stacy has become a Certified Integrated Manual Therapist (CIMT) and continues her education throughout different areas of manual therapy.  Stacy uses a variety of techniques such as manual therapy, joint and soft tissue mobilization, muscle energy, and functional exercise to help return her patients to the highest level of function.  Stacy is also the Center Coordinator of Clinical Education for Probility.  Stacy also has assisted with teaching continuing education classes across the nation.  She enjoys working with a variety of patients including athletes and children.  Stacy's interests include spending time with family and friends, playing tennis and volleyball, and traveling.

Steven Sanders

Steven graduated with a B.S. in Health Science, Minor in Sports Medicine/Athletic Training at Northern Illinois University in 1992. While representing his school on a swimming scholarship he gained experience working with high school, college and professional athletes. Upon graduation he transferred into and completed his M.S. in Physical Therapy from D’Youville College in Buffalo, NY. Graduating in 1996, he then worked as a travel therapist while attending higher education with emphasis on becoming a foot and ankle clinical specialist. He eventually settled into Tucson AZ. where he continued his pursuit for higher education; ultimately graduating from the University of St. Augustine with a D.P.T. (manual therapy tract) degree in 2006. He then began the certification process through GLS, completed Synthesis, and became a Certified Integrative Manual Therapist in 2009. During this process, Steve developed an appreciation and passion for treating cervical-thoracic dysfunctions. Steve has had a range of field and clinical experience specializing in orthopedic injuries and post surgical conditions. Steve treats all regions of the body in his practice and emphasizes the principles of restoring and re-educating normal myofascial and musculoskeletal balance. He currently works at the Progressive Physical Therapy and Wellness Center Green Valley, Arizona; of which he is part owner.

Stuart Orr

Stuart Orr graduated from Pennsylvania State University earning his AS in Applied Sciences with a concentration in Physical Therapy Assistant in 1999. In 2006 he earned his BS in Marketing and Management from Pennsylvania State University. Stuart holds certifications as an exercise specialist through the National Strength and Conditioning Association (NSCA-CPT), Matheson Functional Capacity Evaluator and Workers Compensation Healthcare Provider. Stuart is ongoing in post graduate continuing education to develop his clinical and manual skills, yet also has found a passion for teaching other healthcare professionals as an assistant instructor with Great Lakes Seminars since 2003. Stuart has more than 12 years of orthopedic and sports medicine experience & has worked extensively within the worker’s compensation field assisting the injured worker in getting back to the labor force. Stuart is currently a regional director of Work Hardening/ Conditioning for ATI Physical Therapy for PA/ Northern DE.
