New Grad Group Coaching

Our New Grad Coaching program is designed to address many of the common challenges facing graduates of physical therapy and related fields as they enter the clinical setting. To hone in on the most important topics to cover in this program, we spoke with registrants, clinic owners and directors, and many others representing different areas of the rehab industry. Through each 2-hour Zoom session, you will learn concepts like emotional intelligence, avoiding burnout, building resiliency, time management, work-life balance and more! The six sessions in this coaching program complement each other well, offering abundant benefits when you register for the Full Program. However, you are welcome to register for individual sessions on their own if certain topics interest you.

Knowing our purpose in life is part and parcel to helping our patients heal because we feel more confident in our knowledge and treatment approach. We all entered this field as new clinicians for a reason, and it is up to us to know ourselves well enough to never forget that reason. Your why will help be a guiding light when things get difficult.

Focus on building culture and the numbers, and your success, will follow. It’s very important to understand your own set of core values, as well as the company’s values for which you work. Use these values to make decisions, and feel right about those decisions even if your manager is not in the clinic at the time to double check that you’re making the right call. First, know yourself and your values. Then, find a company that shares your values. Live and breathe them in everything you do and you will find success.

Emotional intelligence is arguably one of the most accurate measures of success regardless of the profession you’re in, yet it is still seen as a “soft skill” when it is anything but that and when applied gives someone a solid sense of themselves and other people. This session will teach you the key components of emotional intelligence and focus, how to be observant of others (social awareness) and how that is applicable both in clinical practice and professionally.

This session will teach a structured, yet easy-to-remember framework for approaching a difficult conversation and why it is important to have them. We will discuss how to approach a difficult conversation with colleagues and your supervisor, how to take constructive criticism and use it to improve, and how you should approach difficult topics with your patients and why difficult conversations are sometimes key to their recovery.

Adversity will happen from time to time over the course of your career. Resilient people have steadfast optimism in the face of adversity. This session will focus on how to center yourself on this concept and acknowledge the discomfort, but remain optimistic and avoid burning out.

Now that we’ve built your professional platform with the other five sessions, this final session will focus on how to manage it all. We will teach you how to be a self-learner, take initiative, and not be afraid to ask questions. We will discuss expectations versus reality and how to properly prioritize and manage all of it. Our goal is to increase your sense of personal agency and come to terms with your internal vs external locus of control.
