Become a Certified Therapeutic Exercise Specialist

Test registration opening soon!

The Certified Therapeutic Exercise Specialist (CTES) certification from Great Lakes Seminars is designed for PTs, PTAs, OTs and ATCs looking to deepen their understanding and mastery of exercise prescription. Through the completion of five targeted, exercise-based courses and a comprehensive online exam, clinicians will gain the tools to assess movement with greater clarity, identify dysfunctional patterns, and implement corrective strategies that align with each patient’s unique needs. This certification emphasizes the importance of understanding why you are prescribing an exercise, not just what you are prescribing—ensuring a more thoughtful, individualized approach to care.

As a Certified Therapeutic Exercise Specialist, you’ll be equipped to confidently progress patients through the rehabilitation continuum by focusing on mobility, stabilization, and functional strength. You’ll learn to recognize compensations, address pathological barriers to motion, and apply real-world interventions to retrain patients out of dysfunctional movement patterns. Whether you’re working with back pain, post-op recovery, or chronic dysfunction, this certification provides a comprehensive framework to improve patient outcomes through evidence-based, practical, and effective exercise prescription.
