Most PT school programs only teach the actions of muscles. This course covers each muscle’s function and how to use anatomy to quickly find the driver of your patients’ dysfunction. You’ll learn how to palpate muscles to fix hypertonicity, weakness and inhibition so those dysfunctions don’t return, as well as evidence-based treatment for tendinosis and the functional retraining of muscles. All these techniques will enable you to direct your patients to a speedy and more successful recovery.

Participants should have a basic knowledge of anatomy as this is an applied anatomy course.

Come learn how to make an immediate impact with your patients, even if their symptoms have been present for an extended period of time. This course will help you identify joint mobility restrictions that can contribute to common extremity dysfunctions and diagnoses, from the shoulder to the foot, which are often overlooked. So, you’ll learn to find the true driver behind extremity dysfunction rather than just treating its symptoms. We focus on using joint mobilization to normalize the stress on the tissues around different joints to immediately decrease stress and secondary pain. These techniques will take your understanding of extremity mobilization far beyond what you learned in school, but with enough practice that you feel confident implementing them into your daily treatments.

4:45pm – Lecture: Applying the Join-Muscle-Fascia-Compensation (JMFC) Framework

5:15pm – Lecture: Case Studies and Speed Thinking using Pain Algorithms

5:30pm – Adjourn

This course will provide you with a unique yet systematic framework to finding the true cause of patients’ pain. You’ll learn to assess the body in a “global” way, looking beyond the local pain area to find dysfunctions elsewhere that could be causing the problem. The major focus points of this approach are the joint, muscle, fascial, and compensatory barriers a patient has (what we call the JMFC Framework) as well as the hypo-hyper compensation model, both in theory and on actual patient case studies. We know patients tend seek out therapists who have a great reputation for making a difference, and these simple frameworks will help you develop that reputation and help you get patients’ lives back. This course will cover how to identify key dysfunctions in the shoulder, elbow, wrist, hip, knee, ankle, and foot, as well as look at spinal referred pain.

Pelvic Floor Dysfunction - EXPRESS

95% of lower back pain patients have an associated pelvic floor dysfunction, which is not often considered in treatment. This course will help you learn how to rule in or out orthopedic conditions that may be influenced by the pelvic floor.

An evidenced-based beginner’s guide, this course will give you confidence in mastering basic diagnosis and treatment of pelvic floor dysfunction using a fully-clothed, external approach. Whether your decision to take the course is based on interest as a pelvic floor therapist or to help with lumbar/pelvic/hip orthopedic conditions in a less intrusive manner, this course provides a valuable introduction and will certainly apply to many patients who walk into your clinic.

This course will provide you with a systematic approach to find the true driver of shoulder dysfunction as well as an entirely unique way to treat the shoulder girdle complex and help your patients quickly return to a high level of function. We’ll focus on the concept of hypo-hyper compensation, while incorporating joint mobilizations in ways not often shown. Plus you’ll learn myofascial release, taping techniques and a fresh way to look at muscle re-education and strengthening of the shoulder!

This course takes a complex region of the body, which is often not taught well in school, and simplifies its assessment and treatment approach. You’ll leave confident in your ability to assess and treat the SI joint with highly effective techniques that produce immediate results! We’ll break down the biomechanics of the pelvic girdle complex and how it contributes to low back pain, both theoretically and using specific case study examples. You’ll then practice several different diagnostic tests through static and movement assessments to help guide your treatment. Treatment techniques cover pubic, iliosacral, and sacral dysfunctions plus more, giving new and seasoned clinicians a comprehensive way of treating the area.
