NEW WEBINAR!

Loading the Aging Athlete: From Osteopenia to Performance

Bridging the Gap Between Manual Restoration and High-Performance Loading

Stop treating the aging athlete like they are fragile.

For years, we’ve been taught that the “older” population should stick to light bands and high reps. The latest research from 2025 says otherwise. To fight osteopenia, sarcopenia, and chronic tendon issues, we must load—but we must load smart.

In this 3-hour webinar, you will master the bridge between manual therapy and high-performance training. Using the GLS Finding the Dysfunction philosophy, you will learn a “Joint-First” protocol to restore the mechanics of the ankle, hip, and spine, ensuring your patients have the joint play necessary to handle Heavy Slow Resistance (HSR) protocols safely.

Walk away with a clear, systematic methodology to move your 60+ patients from maintenance to performance. Join us and help your aging athletes thrive, not just survive.

At the completion of this seminar, the participant will be able to:

  • Confidently palpate and correctly differentiate each of the muscles covered in class in the upper extremity, trunk and lower extremity
  • Independently demonstrate how 10 muscle dysfunctions relate to common symptom patterns found within the body
  • Correctly and independently state and locate the origin and insertion of each of the muscles covered in the class
  • Describe at least 5 functional synergist patterns
  • Independently state at least 3 possible drivers of a dysfunction based on clinical presentations

At the completion of this webinar, registrants will be able to:

  • Clearly state 3 physiological differences in the aging musculoskeletal system—specifically regarding “anabolic resistance” and tendon stiffness—that require a shift from traditional high-repetition protocols to Heavy Slow Resistance (HSR).
  • Correctly identify the “Big Three” joint restrictions (Ankle, Hip, and Thoracic Spine) that act as the primary drivers of compensatory movement failure in the aging athlete.
  • Clearly describe the step-by-step “Joint-First” protocol, justifying why manual mobilization of a restricted joint must precede high-level loading to prevent the aggravation of degenerative changes.
  • Correctly apply the “Stoplight System” (Red, Yellow, Green) clinical reasoning tool to help patients differentiate between “acceptable” mechanical loading discomfort and “unacceptable” joint-related pain.
  • Clearly outline 3 evidence-based loading variables—including intensity, frequency, and time under tension—required to effectively stimulate bone mineral density and muscle protein synthesis in the 55+ population.
  • Correctly describe how to integrate a “Monday Morning” functional screening sequence to ensure an aging athlete has the prerequisite joint “play” necessary to safely perform a loaded squat or hinge pattern.
